Brenda,
We have been here less than a day and already I feel I have swallowed a full moon and am walking about with my pockets full of stars...

Wow! we just got here and already we’re overwhelmed with this place! I’ve been half sitting, half laying in the blue chair reading all the wonderful entries in these journals (Well - in between listening to my husband read “101 Reasons Why a Cat is Better Than A Man” aloud). Ken wants to play cards - I don’t want to leave this chair... I am still just so awestruck by this place! I didn’t miss the TV, telephone, computer, etc...at all!

...Here I sit in the dappled shade of huge alders and maples. Just beyond my vision is a little rapids where the water’s steady flow is interrupted by a washboard of basalt outcrop. Day and night, day and night, the water moves over these speed bumps, and never sounds the same! Certain breezes amplify the noise to threatening proportions, others render it just another rustling alder. These breezes bring me the pungent, herbal scent of wild roses, and the sweet moldy smells of damp earth. No gardener could improve on this lovely combination of colors, textures, sounds and smells... Meanwhile In Eden, Catherine Barret

We picked some apples from your tree and then baked them with cinnamon & nutmeg. What a treat! From tree to tummy in a few hours. Until our next visit.

I don’t know how much time I spent in the overstuffed chair, staring out the window at the trees and the river, listening to Mozart and realizing I had entered a magical meditation. It’s so good to have quiet time. Thank you Brenda!

You can hear God breathe out here! Many thanks for the Thoreauian experience. We’ll be back. Cheers

What a spectacular morning! The Scarlet Oak presiding (in the sun) over frosty, crisp Queen Anne’s Lace. First fall frost... I’m so glad we stayed a second night. This cabin is perfect in every way... Thank you for this opportunity to reconnect.

This is my sixth annual week-long winter reclus-a-thon at this cabin. It's the perfect getaway. My favorite time is bundling up on the deck in an Adirondack chair--in rain, snow, wind, fog, drizzle, mist or sunshine--with a cup of hot coffee or tea and splitting my attention between a good book and the superb view. There's just something about that river...
